Windows 10 Battery Saver Data Sense

More and more Windows Phone features are showing up on the desktop. The newer Windows 10 builds, those in the 986x class include a few familiar features. The Notification Center is already in the original Windows 10 Technical Preview version, which is build number 9841, although it was locked for all users. However, it is very much based on the option that is available on to mobile users on the Windows Phone platform.

Now there is that another such feature that has roots in mobile is to be available to testers in the very near future — the Battery Saver option.

It keeps an eye on battery performance, and makes it possible for users to better manage the available battery power on their devices like laptops, tablets, convertibles and hybrids.

You’ll be able to see the running apps, how much battery each one is draining, and close the ones that are taking up too much juice.

In fact, there is an option that automatically disables some of the processes to make the battery last longer when the power drops a certain threshold, say 18%.

Additionally, another feature that could be made available to Windows 10 users is Data Sense, and this is again based on tools that are available on the Windows Phone operating system.

This is designed to help users manage their data plans, and make sure that they are not paying too much to browse the web — particularly handy for those that are using tethered or metered connections. Expect options to limit transfers and get notified when you’re about to exceed your plan.

Welcome, if expected, new additions.

Even if these are still in early development stage right now, and could change a lot by the time the final version of Windows 10 sees daylight, next year.
